Medik8 Crystal Retinal Night Serum…….
This product contains Retinal which is from the retinoid family. The retinoid family consists of Retinol, Retinal and Retin A (prescription only) and are all a “Vitamin A” derivatives which is a class of chemical compounds all chemically related to the BIG MAN called VITAMIN A.
Retinol (alcohol form) has to convert to Retinaldehyde then into a Retinoic Acid so its a slower process which means you still get results but slower. Retinal it is in Aldehyde form so all it does is convert to Retinoic Acid so results are 11 x faster than a Retinol so results are delivered quicker. Retin A (prescription only) is a pure Trans Retinoic Acid hence why it is pharmaceutical level.

Six Benefits to Using Vitamin A:
1) Reduces Pigmentation
Inhibits the enzyme called tyrosine that darkens melanin.
2) Collagen Building
Connects with the fibroblast cells (along with hyluronic acid and vitamin C) and they make the body think it needs collagen so it produces it.
3) Quicker Cell Turnover
Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as it increases keratinocyte (skin cells) turnover in the basale layer in the epidermis. Promotes surface skin cells to turnover and die rapidly, in return nice, new underneath cells are able to move up.
4) Repairing skins tissues
Stimulates growth of cells as per bullet point number 3. Taking away old damaged cells and growing new cells.
5) Controls Oils
Minimises congestion as it is antibacterial and targets blemish-causing bacteria.
6) Scarring Resurfacing
New keratinocyte skin cells grown up from the basale layer in the epidermis they push the scar tissue cells up and off. The cells on the surface of the scar tissue are also able to be sloughed off, so almost like a Vitamin A sandwich, working from each side of the scar tissue.
